UPDATE: 11 August 2010
We've received some fantastic news! Mahlah and her pack have been able to find Ruby a new home; although it's a fair way away, it sounds like Ruby will have an idyllic existence. She'll be moving to Hervey Bay with a retired couple who live on the beach and walk twice a day, and who have been wanting a Westie for some time. They don't have any other pets and Ruby will be Top Dog!
We love a happy ending!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wee Ruby is an absolutely gorgeous Westie who needs a loving home where she can be Top Dog!
We have received the following information from Mahlah, her current Pack Leader, who has had to make this difficult decision.
"We have a 3.5 years old pure breed West Highland Terrier, Ruby. We originally purchased Ruby hoping she would be a companion for our 5 years old Westie, Frank. However when Ruby reached maturity we found they both started fighting. They simply don’t get on and over the past few years we have managed the problem by keeping them apart. This has worked up until now but recently we have welcomed a new baby in the family (2 weeks old) and management of the two dogs has become an impossibility. We are seeking a new home for Ruby who would thrive in a single pet household. Ruby is a very loved Westie and beautiful loving pet and we really want to find the best home possible for her, unfortunately due to irreconcilable sibling rivalry we have to give her up."
So if know someone who needs a Westie to brighten up their likely otherwise ordinary lives, or if you and your Westie might have the necessary generosity of spirit to give gorgeous Ruby the extra special attention she needs. Mahlah can be contacted by email malkens[at]optusnet[dot]com[dot]au
Attached is a recipe for dog biscuits from Dr Harry of Better Homes and Gardens. Lulu and Fergus, regulars at our walks, love them. Even Lulu who is a very fussy eater. The biscuits are healthy, salt free and will store for up to 2 months.
For those of you who have been wondering, after 3 months and several false starts and dashed hopes, brother and sister Max and Coco finally found a wonderful new home in May. We hope to see the whole pack at our next Westie Walk!

Two members of Westie Walkers are looking for mature, preferably female Westies to join their respective existing packs. Daisy recently lost her best friend to old age and the Jadene's 5 year old Westie wants a playmate. If you know of any Westie's needing a loving home and existing pack, please contact Jadene at jadenel@msn.com and Sally at sallyandcampbell@hotmail.com
and help an trainee show judge get accreditation.
The West Highland White Terrier Club of Queensland will be holding an open show day on 20 September at their grounds at Durack. Since it is an open show, you don't have to be a member of the Canine Control to enter. All your Westie will have to do on the day is be clean (which we know can be difficult sometimes), and walk on a lead in the direction the judge says. At the same time you'll be helping a trainee judge who will be assessed on the day for his national licence. So if you have wanted to see how your Westie goes in a show why not enter and join in the fun and support our state's WHWT Club.

Abbie has given birth to two perfect puppies - a boy and a girl. They were born on 29 July and will be ready to be adopted by a pack around the 23 September 08. They come from a purebred, registered Westie bloodline and will be vet checked, vaccinated and registered. If you are interested in purchasing a puppy, please contact Liz on 0409 348268.

Update 15 Sep 2008 Enid and Greg's little girl has found her new home and is very happy with Angela and Sam. The little boy is still available, vet checked, vacc'd, wormed and flea treated and reg on limited reg with CCCQ.
Enid and Greg , ph 07 41939548, also have a boy and girl puppy for sale. They'll be ready to go to a new home around middle to late September. They were born on the 26 June and the photos below were taken on 28 July.

If you're a Westie fan and are planning on visiting the EKKA this year, then why not attend on Thursday 14th August. That way you'll miss the crowds on People's Day, and you'll get to see the Westies compete for top honours at the show. The secretary of the West Highland White Terrier Club of Queensland kindly let us know that the West Highland Terrier breed will be the eighth breed to be shown on the day. Although the exact time is not yet known, it will likely be in the morning. We'll post an update here when we get the exact times.
